Forged Rhythms is a site-based immersive installation exploring the heritage blacksmithing forge at Tocal Homestead, Paterson NSW. Emerging from an observation that the sounds, sights and smells of a working forge connect with us in ways that are innate — the physicality of work, a strike of hammer on anvil, the roar of flame, and the smell of burning coal — the project captures and reimagines these elemental forces through contemporary sound and moving image. At its heart are twin brothers Dave and Bob Skelton, blacksmiths and poets, whose words and stories form the narrative spine of the work. Forged Rhythms premieres at Peek into the Past, Tocal Homestead, on 26 July 2026.
